Whether your breasts have begun to sag over the years or you’d simply like to achieve a more lifted appearance in the breasts, you may want to consider a breast lift at Atlantic Surgical Associates. We offer this popular breast surgery procedure to patients living in New Brunswick, Edison, West Long Branch, and the neighboring areas of New York and New Jersey.
What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift is a surgical procedure that eliminates excess skin from the breasts to restore them to a youthful, perky position. Just like the rest of the body, the breasts are susceptible to the aging process and other natural changes such as those that occur during pregnancy. With a breast lift, patients can achieve firmer, shapelier breasts that sit at a more youthful and natural position on the chest. Additionally, a breast lift can reposition the nipples so that they are centered naturally on the breasts. The breast lift procedure can also be combined with a breast augmentation for more dramatic results.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
The cost of your breast lift will vary depending on the extent of surgery necessary to produce your desired results. During your consultation, you and Dr. Volshteyn will discuss your cosmetic goals in order to determine the best approach to your breast lift treatment. Once your treatment plan is developed, we will be able to provide you with the cost of your treatment. What is a Breast Lift Like?
Breast lift procedures are performed under general anesthesia to keep patients safe and comfortable during the procedure. The incisions made for your breast lift will depend on the extent of treatment necessary to produce your desired results. Most breast lift procedures involve an incision around the areola of the nipple. In some cases, an additional incision will extend from the areola downward to the breast crease. Through these incisions, Dr. Volshteyn will remove excess skin, reshaping the breasts to produce a lifted appearance. The nipples can also be repositioned during this time, if necessary. Then, the incisions will be closed and the treatment will be complete.
What is the Recovery Period Like After a Breast Lift?
After a breast lift, patients may need to take about a week off of work and other normal activities in order to rest and heal. During this time, it is common to experience bruising, swelling, and varying levels of discomfort. After the initial recovery period, patients will have to take extra care to avoid exercise and other strenuous activities for at least a month. Patients are encouraged to get as much rest as possible during this time in order to facilitate a speedy recovery.
Are the Results from a Breast Lift Permanent?
The results from your breast lift will be permanent, but is important to note that a breast lift surgery cannot prevent changes from developing in the breast in the future. You may still notice gradual changes in the breast due to the natural aging process, or if you experience fluctuations in weight. We encourage patients to maintain healthy diet and exercise habits in order to make their results last as long as possible.
