While most dermal filler treatments focus on adding facial volume, fat transfer and injections can also enhance the contours of the body. At Atlantic Surgical Associates, we offer this effective treatment to the residents of West Long Branch, New Brunswick and Edison, NJ, as well as those of the nearby areas of New York.
What Are Fat Transfer and Injections?
Fat transfer and injections, also called fat grafting, are a unique cosmetic treatment that uses excess body fat to enhance facial volume. By using fat from a patient’s own body, we can eliminate the risk of allergic reaction. Plus, this gives patients the opportunity to sculpt certain areas of the body via liposuction while also enjoying facial rejuvenation benefits. With fat transfer and injections, patients can enjoy a more youthful appearance and an enhanced figure. The fat transfer and injection treatment can also be used to enhance the buttocks during a treatment referred to as a Brazilian butt lift.
How Much Do Fat Transfer and Injections Cost?
The cost of your fat transfer and injection treatment will vary depending on your desired results and the extent of treatment required to produce those results. During your consultation, you and Dr. Volshteyn will discuss your cosmetic goals in order to determine the best approach to your fat transfer and injection treatment. Once your treatment plan is developed, we will be able to provide you with the cost of your treatment. What is the Fat Transfer and Injection Treatment Like?
A fat transfer injection is a little more invasive than traditional dermal filler and injectable treatments due to the use of liposuction. For this reason, we typically use local anesthesia instead of a topical anesthetic. To begin treatment, we will perform liposuction on an area such as the hips, abdomen, or thighs. Patients can enjoy a reduction in fat in these areas thanks to the fat transfer process. Once fat is collected, it will be purified to prepare it for injection. Then, it will be injected into the desired areas of the face. The fat transfer and injection procedure is usually performed in an hour or two.
Is There Any Downtime After Fat Transfer and Injections?
The fat transfer and injection treatment will involve downtime due to both the liposuction component and the injection process. Patients can expect minor to moderate swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treatment area. These effects typically fade within a week or so, but patients may need to take a few days away from work and other usual activities to allow the body to heal.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Fat Transfer and Injections?
You will notice results from fat transfer and injections immediately, as the injected fat will enhance facial volume and diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles. However, not all of the injected fat will survive the fat grafting process. It is common to notice small changes in volume during the first few weeks of treatment. Dr. Volshteyn typically injects extra fat to compensate for this, ensuring that you achieve your desired results after the fat settles. Unlike dermal filler and injectable products, the transferred fat will not be broken down by the body. The results from your fat transfer and injection treatment will be permanent.
