What is Liposuction?
Liposuction, sometimes simply referred to as lipo, is a body sculpting technique that removes excess fat from the body to enhance the figure. Often times, patients find that they are able to lose weight with healthy diet and exercise habits, but struggle losing the last few pounds. In some cases, fat just refuses to respond to diet and exercise. Liposuction is ideal for targeting these stubborn pockets of fat. It can be used on many areas of the body, including the arms, back, abdomen, thighs, legs, and more. As a result, patients can enhance the contours of their body, improve muscle definition, and achieve a more youthful figure.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
The cost of your liposuction treatment will vary depending on the extent of surgery necessary to produce your desired results. During your consultation, you and Dr. Volshteyn will discuss your cosmetic goals in order to determine the best approach to your liposuction procedure. Once your treatment plan is developed, we will be able to provide you with the cost of your treatment. What is the Liposuction Procedure Like?
Liposuction is typically performed under general anesthesia to keep patients safe and comfortable during the procedure. The incisions made for your liposuction surgery will depend on the extent of treatment necessary to produce your desired results and your desired treatment areas. In any case, Dr. Volshteyn always strives to use incisions that are as small and discreet as possible. Once incisions are made, we will insert a small metal tube, called a cannula, into the desired areas of fat. A vacuum pump will remove fat from the treatment area. Once your desired results are achieved, the incisions will be closed and the treatment will be complete.
What is the Recovery Period Like After Liposuction?
After a liposuction procedure, patients may need to take about a week off of work and other normal activities in order to rest and heal. This time will vary depending on the size and number of your treatment areas. During this time, it is common to experience bruising, swelling, and varying levels of discomfort. After the initial recovery period, patients will have to take extra care to avoid exercise and other strenuous activities for at least a month. Patients are encouraged to get as much rest as possible during this time in order to facilitate a speedy recovery.
Are the Results from Liposuction Permanent?
The liposuction procedure permanently removes fat from the body, meaning that patients can enjoy long-lasting and even permanent results. However, your results from liposuction can be impacted by future weight gain. We encourage patients to maintain healthy diet and exercise habits in order to make their results last as long as possible.
